As ‘cultural shock’, we learned from first class in LCC, there must are many differences for a international students who comes from a different background .Take myself for example .This essay will illustrate the major academic and cultural differences between the U.K and Taiwan as follow .

On the one side, the most significant difference of academic for me appears on interaction. Just like in most Asia countries , in Taiwan our teaching styles always intend to one-way education ,by means of that as students we are used received knowledge from teachers but not to deeply think about it by ourselves .

In addition , teachers also are used to give answers instead of leading students to consider . Compared with the U.K ., I find that the tutors here concentrate much on two-way education . They pay more attention on conducting creative thinking from each individual student .

On the other side, there are two cultural difference I discovered . First of all , I already experienced the slow-path of the U.K. . For instance , I have waited for my bank card for over 3 weeks and did not receive student oyster card yet .Therefore I think it’s the time to proud our quick efficiency in Taiwan . As above cases , it’s almost impossible to wait for more than one week.

However , there is a main advantage in the U.K we have to model . Perhaps people here have a common sense of urban environment , the green-plan absolutely surpass my country . It’s hard to ignore that so much flowers , so many parks in London . I suppose it also reflect a attitude that the citizen here realize how to appreciate life .

By way of conclusion , no matter the academic or cultural differences I have met , as a international student I assume that they are the necessary processes I have to experience .I will hold optimism to face continual difference ,prepare to be used to them and develop myself step by step !

Some argument of globalization claim that it might exploit and derange people in developing countries , and support that the main reductions were gained by the countries ,such as China ,Vietnam.., which hand the integration with world economy.

Although Globalization is used expensively, there is no exact definition surprisingly because its meanings are increasingly broad over than time , cultures ,politics ,connotations and economy can limited .

However, this essay will focus on the observation of economic mostly in recent years, a quickly-changed period . Cross-border economic activity between people in different countries increasing significantly in the world and the growth of it takes various forms as follow :

Flour 250g + Butter 120g + +Coco 50g + baking powder 1/2 small spoon + one Egg + Sugar 100g





1.Mix Flour + baking powder → Sieve


2.Melt butter → put sugar in then Mix→ put egg in then Mix
3.put Flour + baking powder bit by bit and Mix

4.Divide into two parts → take one to Mix Coco
5.put them in freezer for 30 min6.Take them away and Divide into 3 parts respectively
7. Use egg-white to sticky like below

9. Bake by 150。C for 15 min

Ad is everywhere but nowhere. If look at it deeply , it’s not difficult to find some similarities sources from oil painting , e.g. the pose, gesture , sign of love…and so on .

However , there is a significant different between them , that is , oil painting illustrate a fact life , all sense , all value ,what we already have ; while Ad is a world of dream ,whose purpose is arouse our desire , the life we are eager .

There is still a interesting discovery concern history . Why people in the middle century didn’t desire the "Glamour"?

Actually It reflect a historical background .
To be more specific , the social status in this period is stable and unchangeable .This is why they can’t even dream about it .

Fortunately , it’s a freedom century so that everyone can have dreams and they are possible to come true .

In the end , the film make me think . Compare with people who live in the third world , they have to worry about what the next meal is when we are seeking the material life .There is no communication between the two worlds .

How should we response it ? Maybe only can we judge by own experience .

A survey practice of tube problem in London

On 22nd July 2009, an instant survey was conducted among 20 individuals around Elephant& Castle, including 11 students, 7 workers, 1traveller and 1 retired person. Also, a disabled person was in the samples. Age of 21-30 occupied 50%, over 50 years old for 30% , age of 31-40 for 15% and left 5% was age of 41-50 .The purpose of the survey was to discover the problems of the tube in London.

The survey was carried out by means of a questionnaire. There are 4 questions. The first one was concerned the frequency of taking tube. The second one concerned the price. The third one was about 3 most serious problems, including organization, management and tube environment. The last one focused on the satisfied degree from interviewees.

The main findings were as follows. The majority who took the tube 0-4 times every week, 65%; this was followed by 5-10 times a week, 15%; while 11-15 times was selected by 5%. Concerning the price of tube, 30% of the interviewees considered it was expensive and equal percentage of persons chose 'just fine'. Similarly , 25% of individuals thought it was very expensive while 15% of them regarded it was very cheap. Nobody chose cheap.

Next on plenty of problems of tube, involving strike. narrow aisles ….and so on . A significant result reveal that the most serious problem went for that 'overcrowded in rush hours' , marked by 38 scores. ' Dirty ' was ranked second with 16 scores. Besides, 'unclear direction 'and 'noise ' with 11 scores respectively .

By way of conclusion ,some general comments could be draw from the survey, although the size of samples was inadequate. It seems that majority considered the price of tube was expensive or just fine. In addition , most people were unsatisfied with organization and management and the environment of tube, such as overcrowding in rush hours, dirty, noisy, and unclear direction.
However, overall the majority commented the tube was 'just fine'.

Presentation practice as “Dragon den “

Started from last week ,we had such a interesting teamwork , that is ,cooperation with other designers . I believe that is quit a useful training for us who will major management .

To be honest , the beginning of our team , BrainStorming, which seemed doesn’t get on track . Without a limited field or issue , it was too extensive to catch a point for our project. What we did was try hardly to think what problems existed in our daily life and we always ignore or be used to it .At first, Tony had a idea about there is no enough parking lots in central city . However , after discussing we found out that can be solved just by high-tech in nearly future days . Above all , the first day our rate of project were still in 0% ,so that we decided to think respectively as a homework .

On the way to my flat ,one idea jumped out of my brain; Since I come to London , I found that people here are so fond to reading ,no matter on tube ,bus or at park .This scene made me concern ,

If there is a machine near by tube and people can change books via it , inset one book and get another book from who else ,isn’t it convent and environmental friendly ?

Brought this original concept to school , fortunately my partner all agreed it . Therefore we went to next stage –Brand ,Distribution , USP , Price and more detail . Thanks to Eric , he create “BOOKER” as our brand which means share more books ,more knowledge ; and Tony help us to solve commercial problem because my concept belong to a charity but might cannot get profit . Finally , thanks to our designer who design the model of booker and logo , and gave us so different experience of teamwork ,the most important thing I thought .

Like “Dragon den “,I have to say all presentations were fantastic and creative . Finally our team won the vote as the best project fortunately. I am so joyful for this result, as a feedback of studying since these days ,and absolutely appreciate for everyone everything :)

Education of British & Taiwan

According to what we’d learned in class, British education system - Rote learning has been popular , but today’s fashion goes for “child-centred” education .

To be more specific , to encourage children’s individual characters ,creative ideas will be the first , primary goal on education .

Take my country Taiwan for example, rote learning still existed in our education system and I think most of Asian pupils are used to it to study nowdays .

In addition ,Taiwanese who was borned before 1990,we had been taught by punishment by teachers .And the stresses which sourced from our parents because they asked teacher to do it if we couldn’t achieve the expectance .

Sounds horrible right? But the real horrible thing is we are used to studied by punishment, and just study step by step and seek the famous universities ,but without thinking what we are interest or what we really want .

However, this system has worked for a long long time and hard to change it .Finally we educate many adult whose job always just satisfy their family.

Of course we cannot ignore this old-fashioned method is actually helpful on short-time memory such as current-tests –prepared .

So the smartest teachers can use the best way ,that is, mixed the two techniques to match the need of pupils .In conclusion, compare with British , we have a long way to go on our education system .(sigh)
