
"Culture shock" is described a process of impacts of moving from a familiar culture to one which is unfamiliar , no matter in physical or mental changes . Continuously , the " cultural onion " is a much deeper image to layer person’s reality and life , organizing from physical , mental and spiritual parts of person . From outside to core of this cultural onion , which can be divided into actualizing , the evaluating , and the foundational levels
Followed by previous order , the first" actualizing level " responded to mental mappings and perceived realities makes appropriate choices of them , and then acts in the external dimensions of every day life .In this level , ARTIFACT and BEHAVIOR are defined to the objects that connected with people and action respectively .
Followed by the evaluating level with the layers of FELLING, VALUES , and BELIEFS which provides an automatic system examining and drawing conclusion for the experience of life . In other words , which is a scale of emotion to judge .
Finally level comes to the foundational level included WORLDVIEW and ULTIMATE ALLEGIANCE , which is the mental map , a organizing (managing) center of the basic of thinking . To more specific , it is the heart , the starting point for everything .
Take a previous example of the culture shock I have written for example . In this article , I have expressed the difference of working efficiency and the concept of green environment between my country and London . However , as soon as I learned the" cultural onion " continuously , I started to think in a deep way . These impression I reflected are just on surface That is to say , my direct responses of the different behaviors and actions are the first step!
